We are looking for a Showroom Sales Advisor for our Doors and Ironmongery showroom in Lancing, taking the showroom forward and developing the customer base, both Trade and Retail. The Showroom is part of our Lancing Ironmongery and Hardware store and the successful candidate will be working with the rest of the team to provide the best possible customer service to our wide range of customers.

Gardner & Scardifield is a local family owned Builders Merchant, Electrical Wholesaler and DIY Supplier based in Lancing, but operating throughout Sussex. We have a long and fascinating history of circa 100 years, and have been under current ownership since the 1970’s.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Maximising sales, showcasing product knowledge and building long standing relationships with customers. This will include discussions with customers and our suppliers to ensure we can meet the customers needs, including showcasing our range in our showroom and sourcing the right products.
  • Proactively sourcing new business, while developing existing customers, making sure we deliver the high quality customer service Gardner and Scardifield strives to always achieve and quotes are always followed up with
  • Bringing new, creative ideas to the showroom, it’s layout and displays within it, adapting to customer needs and trends
  • Making sure our offering is as attractive to Retail and Trade customers, realising full potential of all customer interactions and build strong, effective relationships with customers and suppliers, managing feedback accordingly.
  • Undertaking any tasks required at the branch, including but not exhaustively, ordering and dealing with suppliers and stock management, ensuring procedures are followed
  • Ensuring the showroom is kept to a high standard and is properly maintained
  • Maintain a high standard of health and safety and housekeeping in the branch
  • Work closely with other branches to ensure Gardner and Scardifield can provide a complete service to all customers
  • Assist with any tasks required by the wider branch, including serving on the Sales Counter in the shop whenever needed and assisting in our Bathroom and Kitchen showroom

What are we looking for?

  • Previous experience of working and selling in a showroom environment, with a strong preference for Joinery or Ironmongery experience
  • Positive, can-do attitude and a willingness to support and work with your colleagues
  • Ability to take responsibility
  • Excellent sales and customer service skills
  • Great communication and people skills
  • Computer literate
